Why do I need a "soap free" bar?
Sometimes the chemicals and additives in soaps to "clean" your body can irritate and aggravate already sensitive skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. Normal soaps also have a high alkaline which can strip moisture and oil from your skin.
What does "soap free" mean in our bar?
Our bar is pH balanced to the skin, no fragrances, no chemicals, no irritation, moisture and oils aren't stripped from the skin. Our bar soothes, moisturises and relieves itchy dry sensitive skin.
What does pH mean?
pH is an idicator of acids and bases. By knowing a pH level we can determine if it is more acidic or alkaline.
Why is the pH 5.5 important?
Normal skin has a correct balance of moisture and oils, and is slightly acidic at a pH of 4.5 - 5.75. Soaps are alkalis pH 7-12, which can damage the skin barrier function. Our bar is balanced to 5.5 the same as skin to help maintain moisture and oils.
